Good Posture defines as maintaining the two natural curves at your back which divided into:
1) The concave curve from the base of head to the shoulder
2) The concave curve from upper back to the base of the spine
Why Have A GOOD POSTURE ?
Here have BENEFITS from maintaining a GOOD POSTURE :
1. Facilitates breathing
- Enable to breathe properly.
- For example, between sitting upright and slouching, there have a difference in the amount of the air that you could inhale.
2. Ability to thinking and increase the concentration
- Properly breathing can increase the ability of thinking.
- Our brain needs 20% of the oxygen to do its job properly.
- More oxygen in brain, leads the more thought and ideas.
3. Improve the image or appearance
- People with good posture look smarter and more attractive.
- Naturally throw out the aura of assertiveness and appeal.
4. Avoid health complications
- Bad posture results many complication towards the body
- Example of the complication: Increase risk of slipped disk, back pain, back aches, pressure inside your chest and poor blood circulation.
How To Improve Body Posture
Standing
1. Stand with weight mostly on the sole of the feet, not with weight on the heels.
2. Keep feet slightly apart, about shoulder-width.
3. Let arms hang naturally down the sides of the body.
4. Insert the chin in a little to keep the head level.
5. Stand with the upright shoulder.
6. When standing on the wall, make sure stand against a wall with shoulders and bottom touching wall.
Sitting
1. Sit properly as sit in an office chair.
2. Align the bodies back with the back of the office chair to avoid from slouching.
3. Flex your arm at 75 to 90 degree at the elbows.
4. Make sure neck, back and heels are all aligned.
5. Keep both feet flat on the ground.
Sleeping
1. Use a firm mattress for proper back support.
2. Try to sleep on your back which can help straighten the shoulder.
3. Use a pillow to provide proper support and alignment for the head and shoulder.
4. Place the rolled-up towel under the neck and a pillow under the knees to better support the spine.
5. If sleeping on the side, make sure a relatively flat pillow placed between the legs will help keep the spine aligned and straight.
